A new direction in coastal and arctic engineering The goal of engineering is to maximize the rate of return for the investment project within certain boundary conditions like the environment and safety. Thus our work starts from the investment analysis. Basic solutions are created in a rigorous process of innovation, cost and resource comparisons and risk calculations. Such a process, combined with a strong engineering vision, frequently creates new technological break-throughs. The solutions are often unconventional and sometimes even brutal, especially in remote arctic areas. But when properly studied, they work and save money.
